40 sturmey archer 3 speed hub diagram
I just set up my bicycle with a Sturmey Archer 3 speed AW hub and I'm having some trouble when trying to ride it. When I pedal, it appears that the gears don't engage for a bit and my pedal jerks downwards. It then re-engages and I can again pedal for a partial turn and the same thing happens again. I'm guessing that's what's called slipping but I'm not really sure, sorry. The hub is new-old-stock (*Edit: manufactured in the 1990s*) and this is the first time I'm riding it. I tried adjusting th... In my teen's (1968) the hubs had a hole or a cap that opens for a couple of squirts of oil. I don't see this hole on my brommie; Is it under a decal? I'm tempted to lay the bike down with the shifting chain up, and put a couple of drops of automatic transmission oil in where the chain goes in and out for shifting. Or does everybody ignore lubing the hub? I have a classical German city bike of 70-es with Sturmey Archer 3 speed rear hub. I live ...
